Fingerprints, footwear marks and impressions

Fingerprints are one of the most common methods used to investigate crime. Since the result of HM Advocate v McKie and the results of the Scottish The Fingerprint Inquiry, consideration of fingerprint findings has become more important.

Similarly, there have been significant changes in the way the courts view footwear marks since criticism was levelled at interpretation in R v T [2010] EWCA Crim 2439.
